Fanette Mellier

Specialising in print design, Fanette Mellier creates mainly atypical works in the cultural field. She has contributed to many magazines and graphic festivals and her works have been displayed in numerous contemporary art museums and centres.

Her work is representative of the European tradition for highly-crafted design for print based communication. It features a range of bespoke print based graphic projects including book covers, festival posters, large scale environmental graphics, and signage systems for city cultural events such as the infamous Chaumont Festival international de l’affiche et du graphisme.

Besides commissioned work, through which she handles several themes, Mellier invests herself in experimental projects in the frame of residencies, cartes blanches and exhibitions. Occasionally led with other creators (for example, writers, musicians, and set designers), these specific experiments allow her to freely shuffle fundamental aspects of graphic design: typography, color, fabrication and relation to public spaces. Her approach could be defined as a poetic exploration of industrial printing techniques echoing a project’s intellectual, cultural and social contexts.
